Nursing is a major you complete by taking 2 years of pre-admission classes required for application to a nursing school, and then once admitted, you complete the final 2+ years of your degree in a nursing school.

Does KU have a program? 

Yes. Students spend their first 2 years on the Lawrence campus completing their pre-admission courses. Once admitted to the KU School of Nursing, the remaining 2 years are spent on the Medical Center campus in Kansas City or Salina, KS.

  • recieves around 325 applications a year
  • Strong application characteristics include healthcare work and volunteer experience, non-healthcare volunteer experience, and strong leadership skills proven through experience
  • NCLEX Exam - 91% first time passing
  • No interview process
  • GPA considered is your overall gpa (KU + transfer work). If a student earns a D or F in a specific prerequisite course in the fall semester before the admission decision is made, their application is removed from consideration. If a student earns a D or F in a specific prerequisite after the offer of admission or waitlist is made, their admission is rescinded. KU Nursing does not observe the course repeat policy.
